Rock Love/Wedding Songs

Postby TheUnknown on Thu May 27, 2010 10:05 pm

So, I was at my friend's wedding last weekend. During the reception (and well before, really), I had been thinking about rock songs that could be played at a wedding. For one thing, I was hoping to find something for the deejay to download to shake things up from the country, dance, and pop playing. And I've always thought about what could be played if I'm ever fortunate enough to get married.

It occurred to me that I can't think of many rock pure love songs (meaning not about broken love, obsession, or unrequited love). I came up with Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters" and Fleetwood Mac's "Songbird" (though that one isn't really rock). There are some Smashing Pumpkins songs that may could work (e.g. "Beautiful," "That's the Way My Love Is," "Thirty-three," "Stand Inside Your Love") but their lyrics are ambiguous (e.g. "Stand Inside Your Love" sounds more like a song about unrequited love.)

So, know any?
"Disarm you with a smile,
And leave you like they left me here,
To wither in denial.
Bitterness of one who's left alone."

"Nothing Else Matters" is not a love song.

Just get 69 Love Songs by the Magnetic Fields.
"I Want To Be Bored"-Maggie Gyllenhaal as Lee Holloway in "Secretary".
